Hall of Fame Yearly Inductees

Postby Jcrmoon42 on Mon Sep 15, 2008 11:59 pm

After the 1962 season, the venerable institution which is the Baseball Hall of Fame underwent a massive re-thinking of its process. It was determined that many players had been overlooked in its history, and 73 players from the past were inducted to the Hall. At the same time, the Veteran's Committe was eliminated and a new voting system put in place. It is hoped that through this new voting system, players deserving of entering the Hall will be chosen during the regular balloting process, and the Veteran's Committee will no longer be necessary.

Bullshit Moonie... Milwaukee Braves? He played there one season. Mathews is in a White Sox cap in the hall... the team willing to take a chance on him after his season lost... the team where he played more than any other in ORB history... both pre and post start.

Impassioned and reasonable, but I don't agree. First off, the ORB2 is a continuation of MLB. We make no distinction. Second off, I can't find one statistical reason to give him to the White Sox other than a season's worth of games. 100 points better OPS. One more All Star game.

Believe me, I looked closely at it, because I knew you would complain, but I just can't see it. I'm sure I'd feel the same if I were you.

If anybody can give me a good reason other than where he played in the ORB2 to make him a White Sox, I will happily do it.

I think even as MIlwaukee I kind of have to side with Ross on this one.

Upon considering it further, I think perhaps it actually doesn't matter if he had a better career with Milwaukee. The fact is that none of these people are real in this incarnation, and the only thing that is real is us. Since the real person involved feels strongly that he should get Mathews, that trumps anything else.

I was totally prepared for a Dawson-esque news story about how Eddie wanted to be a WS in the Hall bc he felt Milwaukee was not loyal after he got injured. (I probably would have shopped Eddie in Milwaukee's position early in ORB also.)

I understand the performance argument but it's not like he was chopped liver in Chicago, and in fact, he achieved several milestones there...
400 HR
500 HR
600 HR
1000 RBI
400 2B
3000 Hits

And thanks for listening to my (crass) rant

:righton:

And TY Recte for agreeing as hard as that must have been.
