Winner Takes All, Ryan Takes Triple Crown
Friday, October 8th, 1976: You wouldn't have to be a baseball genius to think Nolan Ryan will win the coveted Walter Johnson Award this year. The Philadelphia Phillies ace certainly has the numbers to take it, topping the National with 28 wins, 1.94 ERA and 371 strikeouts to win the Pitching Triple Crown.

"It's a great accomplishment," Ryan said told reporters, "but my main goal is to go out there and win every game. The stats are nice, but they don't tell the whole story. The 28 wins are what I'm most proud of."
